What is Health?
What does it mean to feel good?
When we talk about health, we often think of the physical body, when in fact the physical is only one part of the whole. The whole body is made up of four major parts: the physical body, the mental body, the emotional body, and the spiritual body. One part is just as important as the other to feel good. By balancing these four areas, you can help prevent unnecessary stress and ailments.
Pain or illness can be a final signal to tell us that something is not in balance. It is important to give yourself time to better recognize your body’s signals, so that you can better prevent diseases and disorders. There are many ways to learn to listen to your body and the signals it sends. I’ll go into more detail on this later. First, I’d like to shed some light on the four ‘bodies’ and briefly explain some of the things we can look out for to make sure we pay enough attention to how our health is and why we feel this way.
First, there is the physical body. You can think of our body as a ‘vehicle’ like the way we move in our daily lives. If our car doesn’t perform well, we will usually take it to the garage for repair. But shouldn’t we try to prevent it, instead of letting the problem get so out of hand that it needs a cure?
Here are a few things that are important if you want to keep your body in good health.
- A good daily schedule for stretching exercises is very important. Try to schedule at least 30 minutes of exercise every day.
- A balanced diet consists of fresh products; about 60-75% of fruit and vegetables ensures the maintenance of a healthy, vital and energetic physical body. It also leads to more focus and concentration, which helps the mental body to come back into balance.
- Sleep is very important. All four parts of our health need a good night’s sleep. It is best to have a regular bedtime and get up at a fixed time. Try to avoid stimulants such as caffeine or alcohol several hours before bedtime. This ensures that you sleep more peacefully. A good night’s sleep can make a world of difference to how strong you feel throughout the day.
- Drinking about 2 liters of water a day is crucial. Water helps flush the toxins out of your body. It also helps keep your joints and muscles well hydrated for better movement
These are just a few tips to get your physical body in good shape. It is important that you make a clear agreement with yourself to work on yourself. Your health is your greatest wealth. If you don’t feel healthy and well, you can’t really enjoy the other aspects of your life to the fullest.
